Greetings from Washington and happy Friday, friends!
Sadly, this week brought our time in Maui to an end. My mom and I have just arrived back in central Washington and were greeting with freezing temperatures (but at least no snow, yet). Yesterday we made the journey from Kahului to Seattle, and today the short jaunt from Seattle to Wenatchee.
Though our departure from the tropics was rather melancholy, the week leading up to it was anything but. The week kicked off with a kayaking and snorkeling trip from Makena Landing in south Maui, which was easily one of our best days of the whole trip. The weather was absolutely incredible, as usual, and all sorts of cool sea creatures came out to play. Swimming up-close with sea turtles was a first for me, and an exhilarating experience I won’t soon forget. Check out my Instagram for an awesome turtle shot taken by our guide.
Later in the week, I had a chance to meet a friend from Medellin for lunch (small world, right?), I picked up some final bits and bobs to take home (I couldn’t pass up some kind of tropical perfume), and spent an afternoon house hunting and shopping with my mom in the town of Paia. Oh, and of course, we had one last dinner out at a restaurant by the beach, just for good measure.
It was a lovely way to end a wonderful trip. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t just a little bit depressed to be back in wintry weather, but more than anything else, I’m excited about what’s to come.
And since I won’t be seeing warm weather again anytime soon, I’m hoping these last few Maui photos can help me think tropical thoughts. Enjoy!
Have a wonderful weekend, and think warm thoughts!
